Economic losses in sheep flocks may occur during various stages of the reproductive and growth processes. The determination of the factors in volued in these losses is an essential step toward the improvement of sheep production systems. Two studies were carried out# one extensive study based upon 220 flocks selected from 6 countries in Meknes province, Morocco and visited twice to collect information on flocks management and ownership, lambing periods lambing rates, abortion and lamb mortality. A second intensive two years study was undertaken in 16 of the 220 flocks in one country
